Activision, Inc. today announced that it will publish five new games from

by former Activision veterans Josh Resnick and Andrew Goldman.
Additionally, Activision has made an equity investmentin the new
company. The first two games to be developed by Pandemic will be the
sequels to Activision's "Battlezone" and "Dark Reign."Activision expects
to release the first Pandemic title in summer 1999.
The announcement underscores Activision's commitment tofacilitate the
growth of newly formed development firms by providing them with the
necessary capital, tools, assistance and technical support to create
spectacular games. In addition to receiving funding from Activision,

While working at Activision, Andrew Goldman was the director for two
critically acclaimed games -- "Battlezone," a genre-busting
action-strategy title, and "Spycraft: The Great Game,"a Cold War

KGB Major General Oleg Kalugin. Goldman will serve as CEO of

Week Commencing 15th June 1998
Last weekend saw the launching of the comprehensive
CLANSMEG Website. Upto now it had been just a few pages, but the aim now is to provide some info. as well as having a laugh.
There were several instances last night (Monday) when the dreaded "connection to game server lost" flag reared it's ugly head and generally the NJ server was behaving in a peculiar way. This was evident by the number of usual NJ Zoners who hopped over to the UK server from time to time.
Somebody also my care to offer an opinion as to why "cannot join game" pops up when there is capacity for more players in a particular game. We are not talking hosts setting player limits or password controlled games here.

Just received my first 'phone bill since starting Multiplay. £180 for the quarter, £55 of which was line rental and tax. Good job I had been putting some cash in the ol' tin as I played.
When are we going to get free local calls in the UK?
Sunday 21st June 1998
Just finished the Problem, Multi and Single play pages today, which only leaves the links page to do. It's been a busy fornight putting this lot together. Now the leg work has been done hopefully the maintenance will not as demanding.

New BZ newsgroup announced for maps and stuff. alt.binaries.games.battlezone
56k Connections from Demon at last
From Demon Internet for Demon users.
We will be commencing a planned phasing in of 56Kb/s (K56Flex)
availability on the main dial-up ROMPS.
We will be removing one third of the Energis lines from service on
each of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week whilst the upgrade
is carried out on those lines.
Whilst this work is taking place, one third of our Energis access lines
will be unavailable until the work is completed. There is however more
than enough spare capacity during working hours, such that normal
dial-up will be unaffected. Particularly since the COLT ROMP will be
unaffected at this time.
Between Wednesday and Friday afternoon customers connecting to the
Energis ROMP may connect to either a 33.6Kb/s or 56Kb/s line.
Once the work is completed, we will make an formal announcement
on the status of all our dial-up access numbers.

Well we got a new member. That tricky guy Bang Bang has decided he needed an informal home, so he signed up. Link to BANG's page So he is "{Smeg}~Bang. Of course he gets his own page and a custom flag :)
Tuesday 7th July
New pics of some more Grendals on site, I have re-ordered the pages
I Particularlly like the "RaveN" ECM ship.
I actually made another pic
of the damaged bomber using corel-paint, but when I brushed on all the
burnmarks it bloated out to 91Ks from 31ks. It is a really nice pic
tho'.
So i'll leave that as it is.
Start on some different ones when I have had a break.
New Jersey connections are still very dodgy from where I sit, although on the upside, the Demon lines are slowly improving.
Saturday 11th July
Two more members. A cople of Finnish guys to even it up. As soon as I get some mail from them I will make their pages.
They are {SMEG}~Crow and {SMEG}~Sarge. So Smeg is growing in Finland. He He

Sunday 12th July
Well not much today, however I have now got two new goodies to play with. Firstly I got hold of a decent screenshot utility so maby we can get some clan Pics.
Secondly my mate Den has lent me a flatbed scanner, so with the digital camera and the graphics applications, I sould be able to make some interesting stuff.
Lastly I had a mail from Sampo saying he's out of it for a few days whilst he goes visiting. I get the impression he'll be back towards the end of the week
Thursday 16th July
Well another crappy evening trying to get a decent connection to the NJ server. About the only thing that was accomplished was arranging a curry night on Friday via the chat-room with Keiron.
I have decided to leave the "current" news on for two weeks now as some of you naughty Smegs, and you know who you are, are not dropping in as often as you could/should. This should give the laziest smegheads enough time to get the hot poop.
Some more changes to the site as it gets a little bigger may mean a few of the fancy gifs disappearing, but it's just a case of keeping it managable. Don't forget you all have your own page and it's up to you (within reason) what info you want on them.
I would also like to know if any of you have webphones, might be an idea, so we could talk to each other. There are sites with software around, although I cant tell where. I have one already.
Friday 17th July
THE PATCH IS OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
www.activision.com
Sunday 19th July
Well Gork is not gonna join, his Pa said no.
I am reserving judgement on the patch at the moment.
Crow, finally did your page today, along with a few changes.
Well we had a BZ fan turn up as {SMEG}~Gork last night in the chat room.
The guy had n't talked to me before so I don't now if he enrolled himself, or what. I asked him if he wanted in and he said "Yes". Needs to check with his folks if it's ok first as his dad does n't want their email toted around the bazaars, which is fair enough. Well I promised him if he mails me it'll be confidential, but for the moment he's anonymous. Still it was a little bit naughty turning up as a SMEGHEAD without asking.
Well as I said before, we're pretty easygoing,just....... DON'T DO IT AGAIN FOLKS
All I know is that he's from Michigan USA. Well if he does n't talk to me he can't have a page. Still if it works out he will be our first colonial cousin member.
On the subject of which, if you read this Fiki, I am still waiting to hear from you. Hekka has his page done now.
I got a couple of requests from the CR boys for a head to head with them. Well I dunno, I don't really want to go down the "Them and us" road, usually ends in tears and thats not really what this group is all about. We are strictly a fun oriented bunch.
Still if you want to take a vote on it, let me know. I don't have any strong feelings on the matter either way.
Keep in touch.
