	Saturday Dec12th Well my faith in human nature has been restored. Here is a very useful contribution from UPUAUT and is a prime example of how mates should be helping each other out. If I get anything, that is anything that is of use, I will post it here. Coincidentlty, Up's and I been having discussions about Back Oriface and trojans for some weeks, proir to Keirons unfortunate incident.We both work in an area where these nasties are a real threat to our business and so maybe we are a lil' more sceptical than most about what we do and don't choose to accept. Here is Quote from IRC : "Back Orifice is purportedly a remote administration tool that allows system administrators to control a computer from a remote location (i.e. across the internet). In reality it is a highly dangerous backdoor designed by a cracking group called the Cult of the Dead Cow Communications. It is usually distributed by malicious people in the form of a Trojan Horse attack. During installation, it does not give any indication of what is really going on. Once installed, the server is intentionally difficult to detect on your machine, yet allows almost complete control over your computer by the remote attacker. " We fail to see the funny side of someone opening our CD trays. Our advice to you all is, those silly .exe files that come attached to mails e.g. 'whack-a-mole' and animated Christmas cards, don't run them. Better still bin them immediatley. Keiron, initially,had no idea that the file he was sent was infected and he could have sent it on to me in good faith. BO detect is available from http://www.spiritone.com/~cbenson /current_projects/backorifice/backorifice.htm It may sound a bit contradictory, getting a program from a Web site, but this particular site Is Chris Benson's (Symantic) baby. As always, nothing is certain, so if you are not happy about getting a BO detect program from this source, then don't do it. I personally have it installed and it's a comfort to have it running along side my Dr Sol's. After all, if the BO detect cant clean out the bogie, then it's a re-install. An infected machine is an open book to anyone out there. They can see all your data, mails, who you are sending to and from, who you are talking to, absolutlely everything. This is probably more dangerous then them trashing your PC in one fell swoop. Sorry to be the bearer of such grim news, but it's a fact of life, just be on your guard.

	MISCONDUCT !
	It is with great displeasure that I have to write about some very naughty "In-house" misconduct. My very good friend, Keiron (Capt MO) has been the victim of a trojan attack, from one of our own. This person(and they know who they are) sent the captain a game with a "Netbus" trojan attached. Despite the good intention of displaying the vunarability of a PC to remote attack/denial of service, programmes, there is no getting away from the fact that this was waaaaaaay out of order. (as well as being illegal). When you check your email/files, you should at least be comfortable about receiving files from "the familly" ie our clan. If you feel the need to demonstrate some message, or a point , then you should at least ask the person you are involving in the experiment. DO NOT SEND THE CRAP AND THEN SAY" "What do you think?" I absolutely will not stand for this sort of thing. If I see that there is any repetition by ANYONE of this behavior, then they will be the first Smeg to be kicked out. This is supposed to be a bit of fun, not a vehicle for testing out the latest thing you've learnt about Net Shit! Now Keiron has tried to remove the offending crap. but it seems to be in all his sys. files, etc. I think the best the perpetrator can do is to explian how to TOTALLY eradicate this thing from his PC. At least he ought to send an email apologising. I am very very disappointed This is the second occasion that this individual has ticked off one of the brothers. Three strikes and your out. I am saddened that I have had to write at length on this, you all know me well enough to know that I just want you all to have a casual home. Keiron is a smashing bloke and he was more upset about the abuse of trust than anything else. I am just so dissapointed that this has rocked, what had been upto now, a very happy boat. Get on the email mister and tell him you are sorry. I scan all my email on my ISP's server before I collect them and I am very selective about what I accept. I will not be receiving any files by ICQ from any one. All in all a very black day. Chimpinators will be delayed as a result. Be most excellent to each other, or I will pull the plug.
	{BMR}Chuck Yeager was spotted incognito recently by your ever-alert roving reporter. Chuck had got himself some temporary accomodation while his new house was being readied. "It's a cinch", he told me. "HEL will never find me here, Mind you this sidewalk's kinda hard on the butt. Too bad I ain't got one like Blitz". As you know, Chuck's ploy worked, and he now has moved into the new Yeager pad.	BMR Leader's secret revealed.
	Wednesday Dec 9th The Third episode of the"Chimpinators": "The rot sets in", is finished and will be out as usual on Friday evening, apres Pub and take-away. Really should try this game sober one time :) Keiron (Capt Mo) has sucessfully moved into to his new home and is about in the Zone. He has a crap line tho' (shared , I think he said) so he's not a happy bunny at the moment. There was a woman collecting for monkeys at Charing Cross this Morning. I swear it. She had a big banner saying, "Help them escape". Got the new radar in just in time. If she's there tomorrow I'll try and get a shot of the banner. Arf arf.
	Mystery pile London woman found in state of shock as she stumbles upon a mountain of discarded elephant tampons in The Aldwych this morning. Your Roving Smeg-eye Newshound was there to capture the moment. Later she told reporters, "I was stunned, it must make their eyes water. If I could get hold of an unused one, it would keep me going for years!".

	Tuesday Dec 8th Anti-Chimp Radar Commissioned In an effort to curb the ever increasing chimp infiltrations in Southern England a highly sensative 23cm anti-chimp radar has just gone on line at a secret location on the South Downs. (Is that a Mag cannon to my right).	Full size JPG image 25Kb
	This is actually a pic I of me in front of Swisscontrol's radar site at La Dohle. It's on top of a mountain, on the edge of Lake Geneva, about 7000 ft up. Behind me is France, to the front the Lake, some climb, There is a cable-car, but it's like a 2CV, bugger that.
